Hands-on
Arduino Projects
Step-by-step projects you can try with the simulator in your browser and then build for real. Each project has a parts list, a wiring table, annotated code and ideas for taking it further.
All-projects bundle

Reaction time tester
An LED lights at a random moment and you press the button. The Arduino measures your reaction time to the millisecond and catches anyone who presses too early.
Parking sensor
Measure distance with an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor; the beeps speed up as an obstacle gets closer and green, yellow and red LEDs light up.
Smart night light
A night light that fades in when it gets dark, fades out in daylight and doesn't flicker around the threshold (with hysteresis).
Electronic dice
A real die face made of seven LEDs. Press the button and it spins fast like a rolling die, slows down and stops on a random number.
Music box
A music box that plays notes on a buzzer. Keep notes and durations in arrays and switch between songs with a button.
Simon memory game
The classic memory game with four colored LEDs and four buttons. The sequence grows by one step each round; one mistake ends the game and prints your score.
Automatic plant watering
A soil moisture sensor measures dryness; when the soil dries out, a relay runs the water pump briefly and then waits for the soil to soak it up.
Sun-tracking panel
Two LDRs compare which side the light comes from, and a servo turns the panel toward it.
Thermometer with alarm
Calculate the temperature from an NTC, show it on a five-LED bar and sound an alarm when the limit is exceeded.
Stopwatch with lap times
A stopwatch with start/stop and lap buttons that prints times to the serial monitor as minutes:seconds.hundredths.
Pedestrian crossing traffic light with button
Car and pedestrian lights, a pedestrian button and an audible signal for the visually impaired. Learn state machine logic without using delay().
Touchless theremin
Play notes by moving your hand toward and away from a distance sensor. An electronic instrument that rounds the distance to the notes of a scale.
LED binary counter
A counter that counts 0–15 with four LEDs. Count up and down with two buttons and see the binary number system and bit operations with your own eyes.
Adjustable metronome
40–208 BPM tempo with a potentiometer and 2/4–3/4–4/4 time with a button. A metronome that marks the start of each bar with a higher tone and a separate LED.
Code door lock
A four-digit code entered on three keys, a servo latch, correct/wrong LEDs and a safety measure that locks itself after three wrong attempts.
Burglar alarm with distance sensor
An alarm system armed with a button, with an exit delay, that learns what the empty room looks like and sounds a siren when someone passes.
