What is it for?

A bridge rectifier is four diodes connected in a special way. It turns both half-waves of AC the same way (full-wave rectification).

It sits at the input of almost every mains-powered device. Higher-power types bolt to a heatsink.

Things to watch out for

⚠ Measure each of the four diodes both ways on diode mode: ≈0.5 V one way, OL the other.
⚠ A shorted bridge blows the fuse; check the MOSFET behind it too.
